With this video, the authors present the case of a 53-year-old patient
with synchronous NSCLC (adenocarcinoma) in the segments 2 and 9 of the
right lung. The patient had limited lung function. The authors performed
a uniportal VATS segmentectomy of segment 2 and 9 using Indocyanine
green to define segmental margins. Histological analysis confirmed
synchronous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) pT1a pN0 cM0 Stage 1A1 in
the upper lobe and pT2a pN0 cM0 Stage 1A2 in the lower lobe. To the
authors’ knowledge, this is the first video report of a segment 9
resection; thus they focus on the segment 9 resection in this video.
They explain the procedure step by step and intend to emphasize that
segmentectomy is a viable option even in patients with early stage
multifocal NSCLC. At 18 months follow-up, the patient showed no
radiological or clinical signs of recurrence.
