This video describes the authors’ surgical technique to treat
severe symptomatic hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy through a median
sternotomy. This technique is mainly inspired from the Morrow septal myectomy.
The author will highlight the main anatomical landmarks that drive the surgical
resection and that must be kept in the surgeon’s mind to allow for a safe and
efficient surgical procedure. Finally, the video will discuss when it is
advisable to add an edge-to-edge mitral stich during the modified Morrow
myectomy and the author’s way of doing so.
