The authors present a procedure performed for a woman who had a peripheral nodule in the lower lobe of her right lung, together with a significant hilar lymphadenopathy, PET-positive, which encased the bronchus intermedius, thus requiring a lower and middle bilobectomy.
The operation was performed with the Intuitive da Vinci Si robotic system. Interestingly, during the operation the authors found a variant of venous anatomy, consisting of an aberrant venous branch leading from the posterior segment of the upper lobe to the apex of the lower lobe.
