Circulatory Support" on Friday, January 15, 2021. Jill Ley, MS, clinical
nurse specialist at California Pacific Medical Center and clinical
professor at UCSF, moderated a discussion on lessons learned with a
panel of nursing giants, including Jane (Reedy) Gruendl of CH
Biomedical, Mary Lou O'Hara, MSN, formerly of University of
Pennsylvania, and Julie Shinn of Stanford University.
This engaging discussion covered a variety of topics, including:
- roles with MCS
- how the VAD team has evolved
- descriptions of "state of the art" management of the MCS patient in the 1980s
- practices no longer seen today
