This video describes a surgical technique to treat severe
symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) through a median
sternotomy. This technique is mainly inspired from the morrow septal
myectomy. The video highlights the main
anatomical landmarks that drive the surgical resection and that must be kept in
the surgeon’s mind to allow for a safe and efficient surgical procedure.
Finally, the video discusses when it is advisable to add an edge-to-edge mitral
stich during the modified Morrow myectomy and demonstrates how to do so.
